Following passion

Knowing what you want to do is a first great step but following it is a milestone.

University of Washington, Seattle

How often do we stop ourselves from doing the things we want because we’ve been told that there are no money from it, it’s gonna be difficult or “find a real job”. Going against the flow is not easy but it is incredibly rewarding.

I decided to leave everything behind and travel. But not just travel, I wanted to meet like-minded people and hang out with animals. So I found pet-sits, one in New York and one in Grand Cayman. But before that I came to Seattle for CHATTCon. Asking Ryan O’Donnell if he needs volunteers to help with the conference and live stream was one of the best decisions of my life. And no, it didn’t give me money. It gave me far more than that. It gave me friends.

I couldn’t dream for anything better. Being in a room full of equally passionate individuals made me incredibly excited and happy. We are even talking about collaboration! And it can only get better.

On this journey I received help from people that I never met since the very beginning. From being picked up at the airport to getting free accommodation. I will be forever grateful for all the kindness that I received! I met RyanO and his team in some random Airbnb where he left the doors wide open. Isn’t that interesting how we meet people online and we no longer see them as strangers? And it’s not about trusting anyone but about widening your perspective and allowing to trust more people so you can use the opportunities Internet gave us. There are many kind and good people all over the world. Now we just have more access to them.

Now I’m enjoying New York, two lovely cats I petsit and my new online friendships. My next stop is Cayman Island. I don’t know what it will bring but I’m positive that it will allow me to grow even more. At the end of the day, it’s all about the journey, not about destination.
